If you like being entertained, rejoice! Today marks the beginning of four days of comics and more galore at Comic-Con International: San Diego. Over 130,000 super-fans will be heading down to the San Diego Convention center to catch glimpses of, and even experience firsthand, the biggest upcoming movies (and TV shows and games and science fictions). Every form of art and popular media entertainment ranging from 12 foot statues of World of Warcraft characters to sneak peeks of highly anticipated films such as Batman v Superman: The Dawn of Justice and the next Star Wars will be there. To name drop a few more, the cast and crew of the Walking Dead and Game of Thrones will also be swarmed by eager fans.

Comic-Con’s mission statement declares its dedication to “creating awareness of, and appreciation for, comics and related popular art forms, primarily through the presentation of conventions and events that celebrate the historic and ongoing contributions of comics to art and culture.” It certainly does so by attracting an entire convention center full of people and announcements from most major studios. However, interestingly enough, four of the hugest movie studios including Disney/Marvel, Sony Pictures Entertainment, Universal Studios and Paramount Pictures declined to make an appearance. For further explanation on why four of the six main movie studios refrained from making an appearance this year, check out Mashable’s latest article..

Regardless, the big stage is still filled by Warner Bros. presentations of Batman and Superman dominating the convention floor and 20th Century Fox promoting three major Marvel-based movies: Deadpool, X-Men: Apocalypse, and The Fantastic Four. Lionsgate also set up an experience complete with Peacekeepers, Capitol Citizens, and Peeta’s bakery for fans who didn’t have convention tickets to enjoy.

Bill Murray also made his first ever appearance at SDCC and other popular TV shows including American Horror Story, Sherlock, Hannibal, and the new series Supergirl will have panels throughout the convention.
If you get to attend, we bet you’re dressed up looking like something right off the big screen and if you’re not able to make it, you can always vicariously live it like us through live feeds and articles on here, here, or here!
