Today marks one year since many participated in the Internet blackout against SOPA (Stop Online Piracy Act). In light of this, some Internet activists are dubbing today as “Internet Freedom Day,” and are asking the vast Internet community to celebrate their freedom of expression via Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Reddit, etc. Internetfreedomday.net asks “What’s something you love on the net that you’d never want to see censored?” I took the time today to ask our staff why they love the Internet and what it means to them. The result? Several different opinions and answers.

“Being a kid of the 90’s I remember 2 things, waiting in line for hours to get concert tickets at a Ticketmaster outlet or the ACTUAL venue. Then the internet came along and I will never forget buying my 1st online ticket for a show over the internet, it was AMAZING.” - Haaris

“I love the Internet because it brings a wealth of knowledge to our society and a wide array of opinions.” - Calia

“I love the internet because it creates a level playing field for education, bringing valuable knowledge to people around the world.” - Justin

“In 2010, Tom Coates gave a talk at dConstruct that made me appreciate that the internet by its design wasn’t just a means for transferring data, it’s a foundation for building systems to elevate culture and society as a whole.” - Drew
